Climate Champion Mentors

Five Gippsland individuals have been chosen for their commitment to climate change adaptation and education to be mentors in the Climate Champions program.

Dr. Pablo Alvarez Hess

Research Scientist (Dairy), Agriculture Victoria

Dr Pablo Alvarez Hess is a veterinarian from Chile. He came to Australia in 2013 to complete his Master of Animal Science at the University of Melbourne and he then stayed on to do his PhD.


Simon Johnston

Head of Advisory Services at Ecosave Australia & NZ

Simon Johnston is a Sustainability Consultant with Ecosave, Australia’s largest independent energy services company. Ecosave focuses primarily on sustainability in built environments.


Niels Olsen

farmer, CEO and inventor of SoilKee Renovator

Niels Olsen is a beef farmer in West Gippsland and founder of Soilkee, a patented system that builds soil carbon by engaging natural cycles.


Adam Schruers

Gippsland vegetable farmer

Adam Schreurs is a third-generation vegetable grower. Together with his cousin, Adam owns and operates Schreurs & Sons, growing predominantly celery, leek and baby leaf in Victoria.
